I’m Arad, an analog black-and-white documentary photographer. I photograph genuine moments as a way to connect with people and preserve memories.
My practice has grown through thirteen years of independent learning, working with both film and digital photography, and documentary workshops led by Mehdi Vosughnia.

A road into
silence.
- When did photography become part of your life?
- I don’t remember an exact moment when I decided to become a photographer. I had just started high school when I began taking pictures. What has stayed with me is that I never stopped—neither taking photographs nor teaching myself.
- What keeps bringing you back to photography?
- I’ve always loved observing things. There’s an immense pleasure in accepting things as they are and simply looking at them. Photography brings me back to that feeling every time.
- What do you hope a viewer experiences in your work?
- I hope the photographs lead the viewer toward a moment of silence—a quiet place. Whether that silence brings calm or fear, I don’t know. I want to make a road toward it, not decide where it should end.
